The Dhulikhel puts a full double on the bottom and a single above — the configuration that actually grows with a family.
A double below means a parent can lie down at bedtime, a teenager keeps a proper bed, and sleepovers stop being a logistics problem. The staircase is reversible for either side of the room and carries storage shelves down its outer face. The lower bunk takes 420 lbs, so it is a genuine adult bed rather than a token one.

Keep away from direct sunlight, radiators and heat vents
Re-tighten all bolts and fixings every few months — this is the single most important maintenance step on any bunk bed
Check the guardrails and ladder or staircase fixings at the same time
